Ingredients

  • 1.5 teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • large eggs lightly beaten
  • 1.5 cups flour all-purpose
  • ounces ham thinly sliced chopped
  • 1.5 cups milk 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • cup sharp cheddar shredded
  • teaspoon sugar 
  • tablespoons butter unsalted cooled melted

Directions

  1. Heat waffle iron.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir milk, egg and butter into flour mixture until just combined. Fold in ham and cheese.
  3. Mist waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Pour about 3/4 cup batter onto iron and spread to edges with a spatula. Cook until waffles are golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter, misting iron with cooking spray as needed.
  5. Serve immediately.
