  • cups flour all-purpose
  • cup sugar 
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.8 teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup butter cold cubed
  • large eggs room temperature
  • 0.3 cup milk 2%
  • 0.7 cup raspberry jam seedless
  • cups powdered sugar 
  • tablespoons milk 2%
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • serving cinnamon candies red
  • serving drop natural food coloring green

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, beat egg and milk.
  3. Add to crumb mixture just until moistened. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until dough is easy to handle.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8-in. thickness.
  5. Cut with a 2-in. round cookie cutter.
  6. Place on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake at 375° until edges are lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
  8. Spread jam on half of the cookies; top each with another cookie.
  9. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth; spread over cookies. Decorate with Red Hots before glaze is set.
  10. Let dry. Using a small new paintbrush and green food coloring, paint holly leaves on cookies.
