Ingredients

  •  golden delicious apple peeled chopped
  • tablespoon juice of lemon fresh
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar 
  • 0.3 cup t brown sugar dark packed
  • cup water 
  • slices lemon zest with a vegetable peeler or paring knife) cut
  •  cinnamon sticks (3 inch)

Directions

  1. In 6-quart stockpot or Dutch oven, place all ingredients.
  2. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low; cook uncovered 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender.
  3. Remove from heat; discard lemon peel and cinnamon sticks.
  4. Let apple mixture cool slightly, about 10 minutes; puree in a food processor, blender, or mash with a potato masher.
  5. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
