  •  all-beef hot dog 
  • 0.5 cup brown lentils green
  • servings kosher salt 
  • tablespoons mint leaves fresh chopped
  • teaspoon ground cumin 
  • 0.3 teaspoon turmeric 
  • servings lemon wedges 
  • teaspoons juice of lemon fresh
  •  hotdog buns 
  • 0.5 medium onion paper-thin red cut into 4 wedges, then crosswise into slices
  • teaspoons serrano chiles red minced seeded
  • tablespoons yogurt plain
  • 2.5 cups water

Directions

  1. Rinse lentils; place in mediumsaucepan.
  2. Add 21/2 cups water, cumin, andturmeric; bring to boil. Reduce heat tomedium-low; cover and cook until lentils aretender, about 35 minutes.
  3. Drain, reservingcooking liquid. Mash lentils in pan to coarsesauce, adding reserved cooking liquid bytablespoonfuls if very thick. Season withcoarse salt and pepper.
  4. Mix first 4 ingredients in mediumbowl. Fold in yogurt. Season raita with saltand pepper.
  5. Let stand 30 minutes.
  6. Arrange buns or bread onplates. Top each with grilled hot dog, dal,and raita.
  7. Serve with lemon wedges.
