  • teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda 
  •  egg whites lightly beaten
  • 2.3 cups flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon imitation maple flavoring 
  • tablespoons maple syrup 
  • 0.5 cup butter chilled cut into small pieces reduced-calorie
  • ounce carton nonfat yogurt plain
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • cup sugar 
  • 0.3 cup walnuts chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 35
  2. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Combine maple syrup, maple flavoring, egg whites, and yogurt; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  4. Divide batter evenly among 18 muffin cups coated with cooking spray; sprinkle walnuts evenly over batter.
  5. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until muffins spring back when touched lightly in center.
  6. Remove from pans immediately; let cool on a wire rack.
