  • 1.5 cups baking mix 
  • tablespoons butter melted
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk 
  • tablespoon canola oil 
  •  eggs lightly beaten
  • 0.8 cup onion chopped
  • teaspoons poppy seeds 
  • ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded divided

Directions

  1. In a small skillet, saute onion in oil until golden brown, about 7 minutes. Set aside to cool. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and egg. Stir in the biscuit mix, onion and 1/2 cup cheese.
  2. Pour into a greased 9-in. round baking pan.
  3. Sprinkle with poppy seeds and remaining cheese.
  4. Drizzle with butter.
  5. Bake at 400° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.
  6. Cut into wedges.
