  • 2.3 cups flour all-purpose divided

  • 0.5 cup milk (110° to 115°)
  • 0.3 cup onion finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoon sugar 
  • 0.5 cup water (110° to 115°)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water.

  4. Transfer to a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  5. Stir the batter down, about 25 strokes.
  6. Spread into a greased 8-in. x 4-in. loaf pan. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 15 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375° for 40-45 minutes.
  8. Remove from pan to a wire rack.
  9. Serve warm.
