Begin by heating olive oil in a saucepan, introducing you to the nutty undertones of the orzo pasta. As you stir, the pasta will reveal its golden hue, setting the stage for the addition of chopped red onion, which softens gently into the mix. The minced garlic then makes its entrance, infusing the dish with an aromatic depth that promises to awaken your senses.

As the orzo simmers in vegetable broth, a separate bowl marries cherry tomatoes, half of the fresh basil, and more olive oil, creating a vibrant topping that will soon steal the show. The final act involves layering this tomato mixture over the cooked orzo, then garnishing with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese and the remaining basil leaves.
