Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups sugar 
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 0.5 package cream cheese softened reduced-fat (8-ounce size) (Neufchâtel)
  •  eggs 
  •  egg whites 
  • 2.8 cups unbleached flour all-purpose
  • teaspoons cream of tartar 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, the margarine, cream cheese and eggs in large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Cover and refrigerate dough 1 hour.
  3. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls.
  4. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon.
  5. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each ball with bottom of drinking glass.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  8. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
