Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • cups braeburn apple diced peeled
  • tablespoons butter 
  • cups celery thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon thyme leaves dried
  • 14.5 ounce less-sodium chicken broth fat-free canned
  • 10 ounces 3%-less-sodium ham chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon poultry seasoning 
  • cups onion red vertically sliced
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • pound sourdough bread cut into 1/2-inch cubes ( 12 cups)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 35
  2. Arrange the bread cubes in single layers on 2 baking sheets.
  3. Bake at 350 for 18 minutes or until toasted.
  4. Remove from oven.
  5. Increase oven temperature to 37
  6. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Add onion and celery; saut 4 minutes or until tender.
  8. Add ham and next 5 ingredients (ham through salt); saut 2 minutes.
  9. Combine onion mixture and bread, tossing gently to combine.
  10. Add broth; toss gently to coat. Spoon mixture into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.
  11. Cover and bake at 375 for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 35 minutes or until golden brown.
