Ingredients

  • 1.3 cups flour all-purpose
  • cup sugar 
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup shortening 
  • 0.8 cup cream sour
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  •  eggs

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease bottom and side of round pan, 9x1 1/2 inches, or square pan, 8x8x2 inches, with shortening; lightly flour.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt in large bowl.
  3. Cut in shortening, using pastry blender or crisscrossing 2 knives, until mixture is size of small peas; reserve 1/3 cup.
  4. Stir remaining ingredients into flour mixture with spoon until well blended.
  5. Pour into pan.
  6. Sprinkle reserved flour mixture over batter.
  7. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Serve warm or cool.
