Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract 
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda 
  • cup butter softened
  • 0.5 cup coconut flakes flaked
  • 0.5 teaspoon coconut extract 
  • teaspoon cream of tartar 
  •  eggs 
  • 2.5 cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.3 cup maraschino cherries drained chopped well
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips miniature
  • cup sugar 
  • 60 servings sugar 
  • tablespoon cocoa powder unsweetened
  • teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375F. In large bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, the butter, vanilla and egg with spoon. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Divide dough into thirds.
  2. Mix coconut extract and coconut into one third of dough.
  3. Mix almond extract, red food color and cherries into another third of dough. Stir cocoa and miniature chocolate chips into last third of dough.
  4. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into 1-inch balls with floured hands.
  5. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each with greased bottom of glass dipped in additional sugar.
  6. Bake cookies 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are set. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
