Ingredients

  • teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • cups brown sugar packed
  • cup butter softened
  • 48 servings celery stalks 
  •  eggs beaten
  • 4.5 cups flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon lemon extract 
  • 0.5 cup milk 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 

Equipment

  • wax paper

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except sticks and garnish; mix well. Cover; refrigerate for one hour.
  2. Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface.
  3. Cut out triangle shapes.
  4. Place on greased and floured cookie sheet with cookie stick tucked underneath.
  5. Add strip of dough at top of triangle.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or until golden around edges. Cool for one minute before removing from baking sheets; cool completely on wax paper. Pipe cooled cookies with frosting.
  7. Sprinkle with orange sugar.
