  • tablespoons brown sugar

  • ounces pineapple crushed undrained canned
  • pinch ground cloves 
  • pinch pepper 
  • 0.8 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup saltines crushed
  • 3.5 pounds sweet potatoes and into

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, cover sweet potatoes with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain and cool.
  3. Peel the potatoes and place in a large bowl; mash.
  4. Add the pineapple, 2 tablespoons butter, salt and pepper; mix well.
  5. Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish.
  6. Combine saltines, brown sugar, cloves and remaining butter; sprinkle over potatoes.
  7. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 30 minutes.
